בקיץ 1967, אנדרו לויד ובר התבקש על ידי אלן דוגט, ראש המחלקה למוסיקה בחצר Colet, St Paul’s Junior School who taught his younger brother, ג'וליאן, to write a ‘pop cantata’ for the school choir to sing at their Easter end of term concert.
